Our NHS Projects
Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust Big Night Awards 2023
Hands-on project management support and expertise to its communications team for their 2023 staff awards event – the first event since the Covid pandemic.
From award shortlisting, speech writing and publication creation, to coordinating entertainment, decorations, catering and invitations, we took the pressure off the team at a busy time and provided assurance that a great event would be delivered on time and within budget.
Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland – NHS Sustainability and Transformation
This CIPR award-winning patient consultation integrated health and social service provision to keep people healthier longer and deliver services closer to people’s homes.
We provided a full suite of communications support to Boards, alongside social care colleagues in local government, Healthwatch and the Health and Wellbeing/Oversight and Scrutiny Boards to map stakeholders and the communications needs of the system, leading to the creation of the platform for the restructure of acute hospitals and care pathways in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust - From Good to Great
Working with a new Chief Executive, Head of Communications and Executive Team, we conducted a three-month review of stakeholder perceptions of the Trust, mapping stakeholders, conducting one-to-one interviews and launching an online survey, complementing work undertaken within the Trust to strengthen internal communications.
Working with the communications leads from across the health economy, we created a robust piece of work which was later used as evidence in a CQC review of the Trust.
Our Central and Local Government Projects
Newark’s £25m Town Deal
Newark and Sherwood District Council enlisted our expertise to develop a comprehensive communications strategy to support its £25m investment that aims to bring a compelling vision for the town’s future to life.
Our approach centred on understanding the longer-term strategy for Newark’s economic and social development, identifying the role Town’s Fund projects will play, and recommending activities and collateral to support the journey – including an eye-catching drone-filmed storytelling video plus others to promote the individual projects, and the development of a standalone website for the Town Board.
East Midlands Development Corporation
The East Midlands Development Corporation has been working to coordinate one of the biggest investment opportunities in the UK. Three sites each the size of London’s Olympic Park together capable of delivering 84,000 new jobs, a £4.8bn boost to economic output, an Inland Freeport, thousands of new homes and a focal point for the practical application of net zero technologies.
BakerBaird was chosen as strategic communication advisor, working alongside a consortium of local authorities, private sector stakeholders and universities to develop an identity, build messages and engage audiences from community to investor level. Our work has ranged from public consultation to local and national media engagement and the production of a web site and high-quality video.
Beeston Square: The town centre of the future
From the VIP launch of a new cinema to the opening of a community art trail, this campaign showcased the full range of our PR skills.
Employed to help create a buzz around a new £50m town square development, we used our skills in community engagement, media relations, video-making and graphic design to help showcase the very best the town had to offer.
Coventry City Place Strategy: Be Here
For the Coventry City Engagement Group (Coventry University, Coventry and Warwickshire LEP, Coventry City Council, Warwick County Council, West Midlands Growth Company, Chamber of Commerce and Coventry and Warwickshire Growth Hub) we developed an initial narrative, personality and vision for the area that would support its inward investment strategy to attract people, companies and organisations to relocate and to invest in the local economy to contribute to the region’s growth and prosperity.
We developed and established a clear, meaningful, collective shared vision and narrative that formed the basis of an effective campaign plan to deliver an inward investment strategy. Throughout 2022 and 2023 it was a cornerstone of the area, with the graphic design and branding being showcased in Cannes at MIPIM (the premier real estate event of the international property industry) as well as at UKREIFF.
Derbyshire County Council
Derbyshire County Council’s regeneration projects pipeline comprises some of the biggest and most important economic investment projects in the East Midlands, covering everything from public realm designed to support town centre regeneration to the improvement of heritage destinations and nationally-significant highway investments.
BakerBaird have been engaged to provide the additional experienced capacity needed to deliver the full suite of public affairs, communications and engagement support for these projects, ranging from proactive media relations to supporting public consultations, developing compelling narratives for Outline Business Cases, producing storytelling video, and liaising with local authority partners, commercial investors, elected members and MPs.
UK2070 Commission: Fairer and stronger – rebalancing the UK economy
Through a 12-month campaign we used academic research to bring to life and highlight the economic disparity between London and the regions, sparking a national debate which contributed to a policy shift towards the English regions, now manifesting itself as the ‘levelling up’ agenda.
This was achieved through the creation of a hard-hitting media narrative which was covered in several mainstream and influential media titles with a reach of more than 25m people, including key economic and political influencers through features in The Times and Financial Times, and via a powerful campaign which brought different regional newspaper groups together under the banner of Power Up the North.
